I'm beginning to understand this bike racing stuff. I figured as long as Master was glued to the TV again today I might as well try to learn. But there was something I didn't get.
Lance Armstrong was interviewed after today's (Sunday) stage and asked if Ullrich was the only one in the race he was concerned about. Lance immediately said, "Yes, he's the only one." Now I'm assuming by that point Lance knew Vinokourov had gained about 45 seconds on him in this stage, leaving him only 18 seconds back, while Ullrich remained 15 seconds back. So why isn't Lance worried about Vinokourov too? Not only has Vinokourov won a stage, he hasn't shown any indication of fading on the big climbs; to the contrary, look how well he rode today.
I don't know, I'm pretty impressed with this Vinokourov fella. Watch for him to attack early and often tomorrow. What's he got to lose except the
TdF.
